| Monte Gordo Overview |
Monte Gordo is a picturesque village on the Algarve coast just 5km from Spain. The area around is blessed with natural features and beautiful white sandy beaches. The River Guadiana is the border between Spain and Portugal.
The sheltered village was originally a fishing station, but locals could see that tourism could yield a better catch, so they turned to that and now there are a number of hotels and restaurants. |

Casino - One of the attractions in the area is this top class casino that offers all the facilities one would expect, including over 200 slot machines, table games and a night club.
The Beach - You will find a long wide stretch of sandy beach. The swimming here is lovely and safe and if you have snorkelling gear then it's possible to see some coral.
Vila Real de St Antonio - The nearby town that borders Spain is reached by a pleasant little tourist train. Here you can cross the river Guadiana to Spain.
Monchique mountains - A drive to these mountains is rewarded by almond, orange and olive groves and fresh air filled with the aroma of eucalyptus. The Algarve is much more than beaches.
Cabo Sao Vicente - Europe's most south westerly point is also a short drive to the west along the coastline. The drive passes lots of lovely towns and villages. |
